“Adding new vision to the organization…”
Paintbrush Diplomacy is a thirty year old non-profit that has survived because new people continue to come along and add new vision to the organization. In a very short period of time, Ian has become one of those people. Ian volunteered at a time when the organization was in a crucial restructuring phase and developed a program that reenergized our general exchange program. Ian created and implemented the University Diplomat program that pairs university students with children artists abroad. Since the program’s development, partnerships between three universities and 15 middle and elementary schools have evolved, resulting in the exchange of art and letters among over 500 school children.
Ian has also been an active participant on our Board of Directors. Although he is not a member of the board, he attends all meetings regularly and contributes to the discussion and decision-making process; he is an invaluable asset to our organization.

“Great instincts for engaging people online…”
Ian built NPA’s online organizing program from scratch to a 45,000-name e-mail list. He also started our online fundraising program, raising over $15,000 in the first half of 2012. He has great instincts for engaging people in the online space, is a tireless worker, and a tremendous team player. A real asset to our organization.

“A rare talent…”
We are very fortunate to have Ian on our team. He does exceptional work for NPA, produces incredible visuals and coordinates powerful online-to-offline actions. He is a rare talent.

“Increased sales…and proud to refer people to my website”
Ian did an amazing job helping me to define my business on social media. He successfully created a website to reflect the look and feel that I desired. As a result, I am proud to refer people to my website to see examples of my floral designs. This has resulted in increased sales for me. Ian also took the time to educate me so that I would be able to make add photos and content to my pages with ease. I would highly recommend him.

“A great collaborator…”
I was Ian’s manager at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. He was a wonderful asset to the organization, a great collaborator, and incredibly instrumental in helping bridge the gap between Marketing and Development. Ian implemented new strategies to increase online donors and revenue; revamped BGCSF’s online volunteer strategy, resulting in 25% more traffic to the volunteer page; and made huge updates/aesthetic improvements to both BGCSF’s websites and social media presence, resulting in an increase in web traffic and engagement.

“Determined and resourceful…”
Ian is thoughtful and resourceful. His creative ability is a gift but his determination and resourcefulness are derived from his desire to contribute and are manifested in his work ethic. Ian is always willing to do what it takes to get the job done. He always strives to develop professionally and learn new skills to enhance his portfolio.
I highly recommend Ian and am certain he will be an asset to any organization. He is determined, smart and one of the most creative people with which I have ever worked.
>> Andrea Frye – Project Director, Ceres Connections, Ltd (former Communications Director at National People’s Action)
“Impressive creativity, organizational skills…”
I enthusiastically recommend Ian for any editing or producing position. Ian was the assistant editor and researcher on a feature documentary I edited, Radical Disciple: The Story of Father Pfleger (2009, dir. Bob Hercules). I was really impressed with Ian’s organizational skills, creativity, and problem solving ability.

“Hard-working, congenial colleague…”
Ian worked for a year as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member at the Shriver Center in Chicago as part of the Community Investment Unit team that I managed. Ian was a hard-working, creative, and congenial colleague and I would recommend him to others in the social justice and creative fields. One of the many projects to which Ian contributed greatly was creation of a student-run bank in a public high school, and the related Guide to Establishing Bank Branches in High Schools and Branching Out video, both available at www.povertylaw.org
